Staff Sergeant James M. Squires, veteran of 37 months' service as crew chief of a fighter plane in the Southwest Pacific, has reported for duty at Santa Anna, California, after spending a furlough with his mother, Mrs. Gertrude Squires and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Squires. This is a portrait of Sergeant Squires, he is standing against the wall and is wearing his military uniforms with the Asiatic-Pacific theater campaign ribbon with three stars indicating participation in the Papuan, New Guinea and Coral Sea battles. He also holds the Distinguished Unit Badge with cluster. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, April 11, 1945.
