Description
Captain James H. Gilmore is a decorated pilot in the Army Air Force. He flies a B-26 Pathfinder squadron based in England and later France. He is home in Fort Worth, Texas, spending a 21-day leave with his wife and mother. On D-Day, Captain Gilmore flew one of the first American planes over France. Due to the weather, several other planes in the squadron were forced to turn back. Captain Gilmore has 55 missions to his record and several decorations including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, Purple Heart, and a Presidential Citation. He is shown standing against a wall, dressed in his military uniform.
