Garments for War Orphans. The clothes that these Lena Pope Home children are modeling will be worn in the near future by European youngsters who are suffering because their nations are at war. The garments were made for the Red Cross by Mrs. Cathryn E. Hicks of 2112 Clinton Avenue. Mrs. Hicks purchased the material for the clothes with her own funds. Each garment is a complete outfit. The young models are, left to right, Hettie Ruth Elder in a long-sleeved dress, Cathrine Dees in a flower popped-sleeved dress, and Roy Garland Marsh in a double-breasted long sleeve striped shirt and short pants. The young models are walking hand in hand on the sidewalk. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, June 5, 1940.
