    Description

    Army Captain (Capt.) Chester C. Slaughter of Coolidge, Texas, is serving overseas with the 9th Army. He is receiving the Bronze Star Medal for heroic achievement on the 9th Army front in Germany. He was cited for leading his platoon through action near Baesweiler, Germany in November 1944. His men were part of C Company, 115th Infantry, 29th Division. Under his leadership they fought through an open field exposed on three sides to heavy fire. Captain Slaughter is pictured here. This is a copy of his official portrait photograph. He is shown dressed in military uniform. The picture is in a wooden frame. Captain (Capt.) Slaughter is the son of Mrs. J. L. McCaslin. His wife is the former Miss Colleen Patton. His brother, Willie B. Slaughter is a former sergeant in the 36th Division's 143rd Infantry who also received awards. Chester entered service in the 36th Division, was commissioned at Fort Benning, Georgia, and was made a captain last December 25, 1944.
