Three students at Texas Christian University (TCU) have a personal connection to the attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941. Standing against a wall, left to right are Robert H. Sanders, Miss Janie Franklin, and Charles Webb. Robert, of Tomball, Texas, was stationed at a mobile hospital at Pearl Harbor and received injuries in the attack. He sprained his ankle running to a ditch for shelter from a machine-gunning Japanese plane. He is a Navy V-12 student at the university. He is dressed in his military uniform. Miss Franklin, of Fort Worth, Texas, witnessed the bombing as she stood in her Hickam Field yard. Her father, Colonel (Col.) N. D. Franklin was stationed at Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack. She is wearing a blouse, blazer and a matching skirt. Charles of Honolulu, Hawaii, was a member of the U. S. Engineer's guard detachment at Pearl Harbor and was present on the day of the attack. He served in the military for four months before receiving a medical discharge. He is dressed in a collared shirt, jacket, and trousers. He is a native of Cleburne, Texas, and started traveling around the world at the age of 11, upon the death of his parents. He plans to return to Hawaii after graduation.
