Description
William Taylor Williams, ninety-six, is a former employee of the Water Department, City of Fort Worth, Texas. He began working for the city in 1886 and worked for five decades and operated the pumps, until in 1937, when he retired at the age of eighty-eight. Mr. Williams is shown seated on a bed that's covered with a quilt. He is wearing slacks with suspenders and a long-sleeved striped shirt. A glove is on his left hand and the pant leg on his right leg are rolled up past his bandaged knee. Mr. Williams who still known as Pop around the Holly Water Plant, receives a check in mail from the City for nearly sixty years. He lives with his two daughters, Mrs. Alpha Rodgers and Mrs. Nora Ruyle, of 1629 W. 10th Street, Fort Worth, Texas. His son, W. A. Williams lives in Houston, Texas. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, February 4, 1945.
