Marine Corporal Sam Rizzo being served a generous portion of black-eyed peas by Mrs. Paul Campbell, left, and Mrs. J. Lee Wallace, right, who prepared the peas for the Service Men's Center New Year's Day observance. Black eyed pea is believed to bring good luck in the new year 1945. Corporal Rizzo is sitting at table. On the table is the pot of peas. Mrs. Campbell is dishing out the peas while Mrs. Wallace is pouring coffee. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, January 2, 1945.
