    Description

    Leslie Duane Craig, seaman first class of the Navy, was wounded during the battle of Saipan. He was serving on a transport when a boom hit him and knocked him over the side of the ship. He fell 60 feet onto a landing barge. Mr. Craig was awarded the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged from the Navy on November 24. Mr. Craig plans to take his place in an ammunitions factory. He attended North Side High School before entering the service. He is standing against a wall dressed in his military uniform.
