Description
Mrs. Maria F. Jennings, a native of Mexico is a new citizen of the United States. Mrs. Jennings is both deaf and mute; she was one of the few persons to become a citizen without repeating the oath of allegiance. She is holding up her right hand as she read the oath. George W. Parker, a clerk of the Federal District Court, is standing on the other side of the desk with his right hand raised. Mrs. Jennings is wearing a hat and a coat. Mr. Parker is dressed in a suit.
