Description
Major Nolan A. Herndon is home with his family after serving overseas. He married his wife three years earlier, in 1942, following one his toughest assignments - Doolittle's Raid. Major Herndon flew a plane over Tokyo, Japan, 8th off the Hornet, and was shot down. After escaping from Russia, Major and Mrs. Herndon were married. Major Herndon is shown sitting at a desk. He is dressed in a military uniform. On the desk is a jar of ink, a telephone, and the cap to his uniform.
