Description
Major Nolan A. Herndon is home with his wife after serving overseas. The couple married three years earlier, in 1942, following one Major Herndon's toughest assignments - Doolittle's Raid. He flew a plane over Tokyo, Japan, 8th off the Hornet, and was shot down. After escaping from Russia, Major and Mrs. Herndon were married. The couple is shown posing on the front porch of their home. He is dressed in a military uniform. Mrs. Herndon is wearing a button-up dress with a belt.
