Description
Major Nolan A. Herndon is greeting his new baby, Nolan Junior, after returning from serving overseas. One of Major Herndon's toughest assignments came three years earlier, during Doolittle's Raid of Tokyo, Japan, in 1942. He flew a plane, 8th off the Hornet, and was shot down. Following his subsequent escape from Russia, Major and Mrs. Herndon were married. Home from another stint overseas, Major Herndon is sitting on the couch, admiring his young son. The major is dressed in a military uniform.
