L. B. Clements, left, president of Crowley War Chest drive, presenting a check to Captain Howard C. Maddox, county co-chairman of the chest. The money was raised at Crowley's fourth benefit auction. Mr. Clements is wearing a dark striped suit and a cowboy hat. Mr Maddox is dressed in his military uniform. Behind the men is a desk with a telephone. On the back wall, there is a map of Texas.
