    Description

    Merchant Marine E. V. Barre, 52, Deck Engineer, Merchant Marine, was back in Fort Worth on his first leave since entered the service last April 11. Barre has been in the Pacific and is in charge of deck machinery on the cargo vessel on which he shipped. He told of directing the dropping of anchor and the operation of winches, cranes and slings used in lifting supplies over the ship's side. In this picture, he is wearing a military uniform and holding a cigarette. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, November 10, 1944.
