Description
John Henry Steele, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Steele, is home visiting his parents after 13 months in the South West Pacific aboard an amphibious cargo ship. He is Storekeeper Second Class in the Navy. He is shown standing in front of a wall wearing a Naval uniform. He participated in the invasions of Tarawa, Kwajalein, Bougainville, Tanamyra Bay, Hollandia, Guam and Pelelieu. He entered the service in September, 1942. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, November 3, 1944.
