Description
Max Gaget, 23, left, and Louis J. Delareaux, 27, former Free French bombardiers, were in Fort Worth for pilot training. Delareaux, shot down over Belgium, was captured by the Germans, escaped after 18 months, was recaptured, escaped again, was recaptured, and gained his freedom finally by use of identification papers given a French worker sent to Germany and rejoined the French in North Africa. In this picture, both are standing side by side in their pilot uniforms, and Max is holding a bottled drink in his right hand. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, evening edition, September 25, 1944.
