Leroy and W. T. Crow, both Shipfitters First Class, return home to spend a 30-day leave with their mother, Mrs. J. H. Crow of Carrollton, Texas, after serving together at repair bases in Pearl Harbor and Midway since August 1, 1942. W. T. went to Pearl Harbor in February 1940 and was there at the time of the attack. This is the first time he has been home. Leroy's last leave was in March 1942. They are qualified machine gunner , but neither has been in combat. They will report to San Diego in September for reassignment. In this picture, they are standing with their mother and posing for a picture. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, evening edition, September 13, 1944.
