Description
Master Sergeant Earle Johnson, veteran of campaigns in Africa and Italy, is visiting his wife, the former Alvera Marcuse, 2323 Prairie. Sergeant Johnson was based at an evacuation hospital during the Sicilian and Italian campaigns. He is shown standing, wearing glasses and military uniform, and smiling for the camera. As the sergeant major of his medical detachment attached to the 5tth Army, he was in charge of all administrative work. He shares the importance of sending blood plasma on the battle front and said, "So many men, actually dying, were saved by receiving plasma." Johnson, a former employee at Ray Crowder Funeral Home, will report September 1 to San Antonio for further assignment. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, August 24, 1944.
