Description

A homemade envelope was fashioned from a sheet of ruled tablet paper and enclosed this letter from Captain Thomas A. Dodson, a member of Texas' Lost Battalion. Mrs. Dodson received the letter almost a year after it was mailed. It was the first known letter from a member of the 131st Field Artillery, 36th Division, since the outfit fell before the Japanese on Java, in March of 1941. The top right of the letter is dated December 28, 1943.
