Description
Mrs. Ava Gatlin, the former Ava Dewees, and her daughter Gwyn were visiting Mr. and Mrs. Carl Eckholm when a lei from Hawaii was delivered. The lei is made of about three dozen orchids mounted on a silver-papered straw ringlet. She is wearing a dark-colored outfit on which the top has a peplum over a fitted skirt and a lei. Gwyn is sitting on her mother's lap and wearing a dress with a faux apron and cap sleeves trimmed in lace. The chair has an antimacassar and doilies. Clipping: "MRS. G. WELDON GATLIN AND DAUGHTERWhen a lei of Hawaiian orchids was delivered Saturday to Mrs. G. Weldon Gatlin, Dallas, while she was visiting Mr. and Mrs. Carl Eckholm, 2925 College, it was only one of a series of gifts she has received from her Navy chaplain husband since he left for overseas duty 10 months ago. . . .Chaplain Gatlin will be remembered as former pastor of Broadway Methodist Church. When he entered the Navy as a chaplain and lieutenant junior grade 14 months ago, he was pastor of Grandview Methodist church. His wife and their daughter, Gwyn, two and a half years old, now live in Dallas with her sister, Mrs. A. V. Kinslow. . . .Mrs. Gatlin is the former Miss Ava Dewees, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. T.
