    Description

    Joe Turpen Junior, 18, Seaman Second Class, who was in the battle of Saipan, has been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Turpen, after six months of "riding the waves on the tanker in the Southwest Pacific." His two brothers in service are Private First Class Vernon Turpen and Corporal Floyd Turpen. Int his picture, he is wearing his military uniform, standing and facing right. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, morning edition, July 28, 1944.
