Description
A half-starved black and white hound pup, whimpering with the misery of being caged under the floor of a house in the 3500 block of Northwest 26th for the past four days was liberated and adopted as a mascot by the sheriff's office. The sad-eyed pup slunk into the sheriff's office and crawled under a desk and wailed after Deputy Sheriff Peacock had effected its rescue from "prison". Eventually, the pup was induced to repose a measure of trust in its new-found friends. Wagging her tail hesitantly, she was coaxed over to the drinking fountain and after a few puzzled sniffs at a paper cup full of water quickly learned to drink from that make shift watering trough. Then they fed her and she made repeated trips back to the water barrel and waited expectantly for some deputy to come over and give her another two or three cups of water. She dozed and the deputies patted her head. Her tail thumped the floor. Late in the afternoon, Sheriff Rhodes announced he was going to keep her as the official jail mascot. In honor of they day on which she was imprisoned and the fact that she had been liberated the deputies names their new mascot "Invasia". In this picture are Sheriff Dusty Rhodes and "Invasia".
