    Description

    Lieutenant Joe R. Matthews of Houston, Texas is bombardier on a Flying Fortress of the 15th Air Force, based in Italy, took part in the first shuttle bombing flight to Russia June 2. He has been awarded the Air Medal. He is the son of Mrs. Charlotte Matthews, he received his commission and wings at Big Springs, June 24, 1943. Shown is a portrait of Matthews in uniforms and facing to the right. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, June 9, 1944.
