Mrs. John T. Burke is receiving the posthumous Civil Air Patrol Citation of Merit for her late husband, Lieutenant John T. Burke. Presenting the award is Major R. L. Bowen, of Fort Worth, Texas. Lieutenant Burke was recommended for the award by the War Department. Mrs. Burke is wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a dark dress. She is carrying a bouquet of roses. Major Bowen is the executive officer of the wing staff and second in command of the Civil Air Patrol (C. A. P.). He is dressed in his military uniform. The two are standing outdoors.
