Description
Staff Sergeant Robert L. Chudej, of Temple, Texas, is resting after combat with the 36th Division and hopes to return home soon. He was cited for extraordinary heroism on Mount Samucro, December 18, 1943. From a dug-in position, he observed enemy movement. With ten volunteers, he led a counter attack and managed to capture a German officer and seventeen enlisted men. Sergeant Chudej is pictured in his military uniform.
