Description
Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Purinton received this picture taken in a German prisoner of war camp near Dresden, Germany. Among the U. S. Servicemen was their son Lieutenant Colonel William R. Purinton, second from left, in middle row. Colonel Purinton has been interned since May 17, 1943, when his Marauder bomber was shot down over the North Sea. He graduated from Stripling High School in 1931 and attended Tyler Junior College and Texas Christian University. Colonel Purinton reported in his letters that the Germans treat them well and with proper respect. Also pictured is Major Sulden McMillian, second from the right in the top row. He was taken prisoner in June 1943.
