Description
Mrs. Paul Withington was born in California, but her family moved to Honolulu, Hawaii when she was a small child. Her father, Reverend H. B. Restarick, was the first Episcopal minister on the islands. Her family watched Hawaii develop from the early days after the annexation. Queen Liliokalani, who was dethroned when the United States took over, took refuge in the Episcopal church. After graduating from Punahou Academy, Mrs. Withington came to the United States to attend Ogontz College near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She met and married Dr. Withington, but grew tired of the cold winters. She moved her family back to Hawaii and they lived fifteen miles from Pearl Harbor. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, her husband and sons joined the military. Mrs. Withington is in Fort Worth, Texas visiting her sister-in-law, Mrs. Leonard Withington. She is sitting in an arm chair wearing pearls and a dark dress.
