R. E. Neal is a Carpenter's Mate First Class in the United States Navy. He is home in Fort Worth, Texas, for the first time in four years. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Neal. Petty Officer Neal was in Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack. From there he was sent to Kodiak, Alaska, and the Aleutians. He is shown standing against a wall, dressed in his military uniform.
