Description
Left to right, Reverend Joseph Patterson, Methodist; Rabbi Eugene Lipman, Jewish and Monsignor Joseph G. O'Donohoe, Catholic. Promptly at 11 a.m. the first reverent telegraph message sent by Samuel F. B. Morse 100 years go, "What Hath God Wrought!" was flashed from Washington by the original instrument over Western Union wires across the nation and to ships at sea. At the same hour, Fort Worth was called to spend one minute in silent prayer and three clergymen stood by the "master clock" in the Western Union office to observe the historic moment of telegraphy's centennial and the start of the city's "Week of Continuous Prayer". The three men are looking at a large clock hung on the wall.
