Master Sergeant M. Siefert, Aiken, South Carolina, veteran of thirty years of Army service, visits his sister, Mrs. Frances Bonner of 2808 South Jennings. Master Sergeant M. Siefert participated in four major offensives and 12 defensive actions during his two years of service. He was 18 years old when he joined the Army and received his training at Jefferson Barracks, being sent overseas in 1917. He remained in the Army of occupation stationed at Koblenz, Germany for nine months. He also saw action on the Mexican border campaign. In this picture, Master Sergeant Siefert is standing against the wall. He is wearing his military uniform with the Purple Heart and silver oak leaf cluster for wounds he received at Chateau Thierry and in the Meuse-Argonne of World War I.
