Description

Left to right, Mrs. Walter G. Craven, Charlotte, North Carolina and Mrs. I. H. Bartz, Brenham, Texas. Mrs. Craven, who is honored at a luncheon meeting and reception at Hotel Texas, is in Fort Worth on an official visit through the 13 States in the Southern Division. She will leave for Abilene and will visit Lubbock and Amarillo. She pointed out that approximately 12 percent of American Legion membership now is composed of veterans of this war and that auxiliary membership all over the country is mounting steadily through the enrollment of Gold Star mothers and wives of honorably discharged soldiers of the present conflict. Plans have been launched for increasing the auxiliary endowment fund for expansion of child welfare services and efforts are being made to contact children of service men in need of assistance. Mrs. Craven is accompanied on her West Texas tour by Mrs. I. H. Bartz and Mrs. W. J. Danforth. In this picture, both of them are standing next to each other against the wall. Mrs. Craven is wearing an open blazer with diamond shape buttons that have a single chain hanging from them. She has a large collar blouse on with pearl like buttons. Mrs. Bartz is wearing a Jacket with large buttons. She is wearing a flower corsage on her lapel and a veiled half hat with bow. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, morning edition, April 12, 1944.
