Captain John William Santry, 22-year-old pilot. Captain John William Santry sitting in a chair wearing a leather jacket. Captain Santry traded his halfback on the Kosse High School championship football team for a seat in a P-47 of the 57th Fighter Group, and was awarded the Silver Star, DFC, and Air Medal with 12 clusters (which he doesn't wear) was in Fort Worth Thursday visiting Mrs. Eva W. MacDonald, whose home he was living when he enlisted in the AAF in February 1942. He is th eson of Mrs. J.W. Santry of Kosse. While in Fort Worth he work at Convair.
