Petty Officer Third Class Virgil Hughes is on leave visiting his mother, Mrs. V.R. Hughes, 3036 May, before reporting back to San Diego where he is to be assigned as a radio operator. Hughes is a graduate of Polytechnic High School and was formerly employed with the Star-Telegram before entering the Navy September 10, 1943.
