Description

Cover celebrating United States military air power includes a cachet and a First Day Issued stamp. At the bottom of the cachet is a scroll that reads "Avenger in war, trailblazer in peace." Above the scroll is a pair of eagle's wings. Above the wings is a globe wrapped in a banner with the words "Air power." Above the globe is a military air plane. A First Day of Issue stamp celebrating America's military air power is worth 8 cents. The cachet was drawn by Dorothy Knapp. The cover was produced by the Fleetwood Cover Service.This photograph was published in the March 24, 1944 evening edition of the Star-Telegram.
