Description
After 64 years of railroading, Charley F. Hosford, locked the cashier's drawer of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas freight office Tuesday and retired, but the 82-year-old veteran had this advice for the younger man who'll "carry on". "This war has proved the comeback of the railroads. People thought they could get along without them for a while, but I've worked for them in three wars - the Spanish-American, World War I, and this one - and I've never seen anything like the tremendous job they're doing now. Why, in the future, with streamlined trains and more speed..." The brisk railroad veteran, looking much younger than his age, is an Episcopalian and has been a member of South Side Masonic Lodge for more than 20 year. Mr. Hosford is wearing a suit standing against a wall. Star-Telegram Morning March 15, 1944
