    Description

    James F. Skidmore, water well repairman, who received a bronze medal for heroism for rescuing, along with James L. Needham, two men trapped in the Burrus Mill Elevator Company at Saginaw, Texas, after a dust explosion. The men rescued were Henry D. Moses, 24, and Cecil O. Evans, 26, who were seriously injured in the explosion. Skidmore and Needham climbed up a 75-foot fire department ladder and then along a drain pipe 30 more feet to reach the men. Skidmore is shown sitting on the ground, working on a water pipe. He is wearing a long-sleeved shirt, overalls, hard hat and protective gloves.
