Description
John W. Everett is a sixty-eight year old yard inspector for the Rock Island Lines. He is retiring this week after a thirty-eight year career with this railroad company. Though he is retiring from the railroad, Mr. Everett will continue to work. He is going into the furniture business with his son, Bill Everett. He started work with the Rock Island as a track repair man at Dalhart. In his long career with the line, he has never been laid off on account of reduction of force, never been called up for questioning, and never checked in late. His family is still represented with Rock Island. His son, O. L. Everett, has been a car foreman at Dalhart, Texas, 27 years. Mr. Everett is shown standing against a wall, facing front dressed in a three-piece suit and tie, and eyeglasses. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, January 19, 1944.
