Army Sergeant (Sgt.) Uriah Nichols is a twenty-seven year old veteran. He is part of a group of wounded war heroes from McCloskey General Hospital in Temple, Texas. The group is appearing before employees at the J. C. Penny Company to mark the opening of the Fourth War Loan Drive. The drive's goal is to "back the attack" and raise $14 billion across the United States. Sergeant (Sgt.) Nichols grew up in Azle, Texas as a farm boy. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Nichols. He is dressed in civilian clothes - collared shirt, necktie, and a jacket. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, January 17, 1944.
