Description
T. Royal Rupert 99th is the Hereford bull that sold for $38,000 at the Turner Ranch auction in Sulphur, Oklahoma. The selling price was an all-time record for a single Hereford. Behind the bull, left to right, are R. B. George and his sister, Miss Cleo George, Charles Pettit, Roy J. Turner. An unidentified man is standing at the far left holding T. Royal's lead rope. Mr. George and his sister, Miss George are the owners of Glad Acres Farm, in Dallas, Texas. They bought a two-thirds (2/3) interest. Mr. Pettit, owner of the Flat Top Ranch in Walnut Springs, Texas, bought one-third (1/3) interest. Mr. Turner, of Sulphur, Oklahoma, is the breeder and seller of the bull. A thick layer of snow is covering the ground and everyone is wearing winter coats and Mr. Turner is wearing a cowboy hat. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, January 11, 1944.
