Dean of men at Southwestern Junior College, W. E. Eiseman, standing outside wearing a collared shirt and coat. Dean Eiseman was awaked by a student who sounded the fire alarm in the West Hall boys' dorm. The fire destroyed the building and two students, Lee Roy Birdwell and Virgil Dye, lost their lives. Published Fort Worth Star-Telegram Morning Edition January 3, 1944.
