Bigby Is Elected by SeedmenOfficers were re-elected and two new directors picked Thursday by the Texas Seedmen's Association at the closing session of the tenth annual convention at Hotel Texas.The officers are W.C. Bigby of Fort Worth, president; Max Graham of San Antonio, vice president, and A. J. Biggio Jr. of Dallas, secretary-treasurer.The new directors are Leon Rosenberg of Greenville and J. D. Johnson of Plainview, who were elected to three-year terms.Place of the next convention was not selected because of war conditions. Biggio announced that the convention this year had the best attendance in history.District OPA Director McGee told the delegates Thursday morning that there is a definite shortage of gasoline and automobile tires.'In 1941, there were 71,500,000 gallons of gasoline used daily, and now although we have 75,000,000 gallons daily, more than 25 per cent is being used by the armed forces and lend-lease,' he said. 'That means one-third less gasoline available for civilian consumption.'Lester J. Cappleman of Dallas, regional FDA administrator, said that the United States succeeded in producing last year enough seed for the Nation and for most of the needs of the Allies.He said in lease-lend shipments, the United Kingdom had received more than 40,000,000 pounds; Russia 16,000,000, Australia 1,500,00 and North Africa 500,000."Stamped: Star-Telegram Morn.
