Description

Armistice Day celebration. Charles C. Johnson Jr, placing wreath on tomb.A middle-aged man with what looks like a port wine mark on his face is in a black suit with a glimpse of a light shirt at his collar; he is placing a flower wreath next to a tall monument with wording about Canadian Flying Corps members who died while stationed in Texas from November 1917 to April 1918. There are headstones around and there is a bouquet of what looks like chrysanthemums on the ground behind the wreath.Clipping: (for context)"Fort Worth's Armistice Day observance was given an international phase Thursday when members of the World War Fliers Club decorated the tomb of Canadian fliers at Greenwood Cemetery. Above, Charles C. Johnson Jr., wing commander of the club, places a wreath on the tomb. Below, center, Chaplain C. G. Fox of the Texas State Guard, who conducted the services, and two members of the Royal Air Force, Flying Officer J. L. Cornish, left and Flight Lieutenant E. J. Robb, who came here from Terrell for the Service."Stamped: Star-Telegram Eve Nov. 12, 1943
