Description

Rear Admiral Percy Wright Foote and Lieutenant General Barton K. Yount, on the reviewing stand. Five white older men are seated on a reviewing stand in front of the Hotel Texas. Three in uniform, two in civilian suits. The uniformed man on the far left is turned from the camera. The man in the hat, double-breasted three-piece suit with a handkerchief in his pocket is smoking a large cigar and wearing a signet-looking ring. His tie is not much in view. The middle man is Percy Wright Foote, a rear admiral in uniform with ribbons of decoration on his chest and braid and stars on his sleeve. Foote is also in his uniform hat. He is wearing glasses, and a light shirt and tie with his uniform. To the right of him is Lieutenant General Yount, also in uniform, with insignia and ribbons on his jacket breast, braid on his sleeves, and a metal symbol on his hat. He is wearing glasses, and a light tie and light shirt with his uniform, and a signet right on his left hand. On the far right is a man in a civilian single breasted suit, light shirt and striped tie, wearing wire rimmed glasses and smoking a cigarette. He is wearing glasses and a wrist watch. Upper floor windows of the hotel are in view behind the men and a spectator can be seen seated behind a window screen. There are flags, unidentifiable, on ceremonial poles. Clipping: "Read Adm. Percy Wright Foote, Navy Day guest of honor, spins a sea yarn for Lt. Gen. Barton K. Yount, commanding officer of the Army Air Forces Training Command, as they sit on the reviewing stand for the parade." From a second Clipping in the envelope (context): ". . . Reviewing Stand By Eleanor Wilson. It was 'eyes starboard' Wednesday as blue-clad sons and daughters of Uncle Sam's Navy came 'bounding' up Main and passed the review stand in front of Hotel Texas. There was even a tang of salt in the air that whipped around the flag-bedecked reviewing stand, and Fort Worth land-lubbers who pushed far out over the sidewalks lining the route of the parade found it easy to draw a parallel between the ocean and the bobbing white-caps of the sailors as wave after wave of Navy personnel marched by in the city's largest Navy Day display. . . ."
