Description
Junior League play Mrs. Emory Cantey, in a witch costume of black drapery and a pointed black hat is holding a stage prop of striped tubing as a cage to place over Mrs. Emory Cantey who is playing the boy Hansel in the play. The set is a simple painting of a "frosted" house with ginger bread men, hearts, flowers, and trees painted on it. There is a painted tree in partial view behind the stage curtain on the right. A piece of twine extends from the candy cane cage. Mrs. Cantey's clothes are not much in view except for a cap, short sleeved shirt, and shoes and socks. The witches costume appears to have a belt and an exaggerated sized key hanging from it. Clipping: "In Junior League Play The mean old witch, played by Mrs. George Armstrong Jr., traps Hansel, played by Mrs. Emory Cantey, in a peppermint candy cage in this scene from 'Hansel and Gretel,' Junior League play which was presented Tuesday after noon for children of West Van Zandt School"
