    Description

Kenneth Wayne McDonald, eight-months old. In the photograph, baby McDonald is sitting on a wooden dining room chair with a plain wall behind him and wood flooring. He is wearing a romper with the straps attached by two buttons, a long sleeve top, ankle high socks, lace shoes and a knitted cap. He is staring off to the left. Both of his hands are in a closed fist position with each hand placed on the corresponding leg. Private McDonald in his first letter to his son, Kenneth , told him that he was writing to him, even though he knew that he couldn't read, because he wanted him to know why his father was away. 'I surely do miss your cuddling and loving you always gave me when I came home form work. But dad has a bigger job to do now so that you and many others may have a good and clean county to live in. Son, you have the best country... if you were my age now, you could realize.'
