Description

A. R. Cartwright is a dairy farmer in Fort Worth, Texas. His day begins at 2:30 in the morning by making preparations for the morning milking and feeding of 145 dairy cows. Afterwards, the milk is taken to market and feed is bought. Mr. Cartwright runs the 90-acre farm with little help aside from his son, A. R. Junior. With the rising cost of feed and the price ceiling of milk, the family farm is seeing diminishing profit margins. He has taken his fight to the Office of Price Administration (O. P. A.) where he hopes to find a balance for farmers like him. He has joined forces with dairymen from Waco, Texas, Houston, Texas, and most of West Texas. Mr. Cartwright is shown feeding two young calves from bottles. He is smoking a cigarette and dressed in a straw hat, long-sleeve shirt, and overalls.
