Description
Mrs. John L. Van Dyke is posing with her son, John Lee Junior. She is married to Lieutenant John "Johnny" Van Dyke. The lieutenant is a bombardier in the United States Army Air Corps and a former employee of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He has been stationed in Hawaii since October and has never seen his son. Mrs. Van Dyke is trying to teach her three-and-a-half month old son to say "Da-da," so he will be able to greet his father. She is sitting on a chair, wearing a lacy dress and a checkered apron. John Junior is on his mother's lap, wearing overalls. There is a piano in the background, and a painting hanging on the wall.
