Description

Cover to promote the new 5-cent Polish commemorative postage stamp. Cover sponsored by the Fleetwood Cover Service, Mount Vernon, New York. Cachet was designed by Dorothy Knapp. The image is framed on both sides by swords. A scrolled caption at the top reads "Salute to Poland." At the bottom are the words "The Hearts of People Once Free Cannot be Enslaved." Above the words is a chained hand holding a pole carrying the flag of Poland. The cachet was designed by Dorothy Knapp. This photograph was published in the July 12, 1943 evening edition of the Star-Telegram.
