    Description

All yeomen third class, these four Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) were in a group of 50 who visited Fort Worth, Texas, on their way to their first assignments. The women are, left to right, Ruth Henthorne of Los Angeles, California, Glendenn Hatfield of O'Keefe, West Virginia, and Alice Keuling and Willie McDaniel, both of Miami, Florida. They are shown standing in front of a blank wall, all wearing their WAVES uniforms. Their uniforms consist of a dark, buttoned-up jacket, a collared shirt, a necktie, and hats with "U. S. NAVY" written across the front of them.
