Reverend Melvin Ewing Livesay, 33, pastor of Azle Avenue Baptist Church, was commissioned a first lieutenant in the Army Chaplain Corps and ordered to report to Harvard University for temporary duty and schooling. Reverend Livesay is shown standing in front of an empty wall, wearing a dark, double-breasted suit with a striped tie. Livesay is a native of Fort Worth, Texas. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Howard Payne College and studied two years at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
